Laser Skin Resurfacing

The skin is the body’s largest organ, serving arguably the most vital function: protecting you. But skin is also vulnerable, and aging, sun, and a number of other factors can have a negative impact on skin over the years, producing brown spots, scars, lines, and wrinkles. Laser skin resurfacing can remove imperfections for Charlotte, NC, patients by utilizing a laser light beam that penetrates the skin’s deepest layer, stimulating healing for glowing, more youthful skin.

A popular and effective method of laser resurfacing involves utilizing a fractional CO2 laser, which produces the most results in the least amount of time.

Are You a Candidate?

The best laser resurfacing patients are women and men in good overall physical and mental health with realistic expectations regarding what the procedure can accomplish. Smoking should be avoided in the weeks prior to and following the procedure, as smoking can interfere with the body’s ability to heal. Patients will be asked to provide their medical history, including any medications they might be taking.

The best method of determining whether you are a good candidate for laser resurfacing is to schedule a consultation to discuss your concerns and goals with a professional. Even if laser resurfacing is not a good fit, other procedures such as chemical peels and microneedling might be a viable alternative.

What Can I Expect During a Laser Resurfacing Procedure?

After we develop a specific treatment plan, we walk each patient through every step of the procedure. A typical laser resurfacing appointment will last about one hour. During the first phase of the appointment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the area being treated. After the numbing cream takes effect, the laser segment of the treatment usually takes less than an hour.

Laser resurfacing utilizing a fractional CO2 laser involves attacking skin tissue with a beam of light that leaves several columns of tissue untouched in order to help facilitate healing. At the end of the appointment, patients will be provided with a detailed list of aftercare instructions and encouraged to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Laser Resurfacing Recovery

Recovery from a laser resurfacing procedure typically takes one week, during which the skin might be red, dry, peeling, and flaking. Patients should expect to suspend work and social activities during this time, although working from home is possible after an initial rest period. Potential risks include infection and hyperpigmentation, making it essential that patients follow all aftercare instructions provided by the doctor, including wearing sunscreen to protect skin following the procedure.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost

The cost of laser resurfacing in Charlotte, NC, varies depending on the number and size of the areas being treated. During the consultation, we will provide a full estimate for the procedure. Insurance companies do not cover cosmetic procedures.
