You will be given general anesthesia to ensure you are comfortable and pain-free during the procedure. Charlotte neck lift expert, Dr. Augenstein, will make incisions under your chin and behind your ears to access the deep layers of the neck tissues. He will carefully adjust the skin and fat layers to access the underlying muscle layer, the platysma muscle. Dr. Augenstein will then separate and lift the platysma muscle from the overlying skin and fat. The muscle will be tightened and reshaped to create a more youthful and defined contour in the neck and jawline. If necessary, Dr. Augenstein will remove excess skin and fat from the neck area to further improve the contours. The incisions will be closed with sutures or staples, and a compression garment will be applied to help reduce swelling and promote healing.

Immediate improvement will be noticeable after your neck lift. Bruising and swelling take about three weeks to begin fading, and your skin may feel tight around your neck as you get used to the sensation of your new, chiseled appearance. Full results are typically seen around four to six months after the procedure when all bruising and swelling have faded.
Have Some You Time

Most patients return to work and a daily routine after about two weeks, though it is essential to avoid strenuous activities such as lifting heavy objects. You will notice a significant decrease in swelling and bruising after about two to three months.
While you won’t feel a thing during your procedure, you will likely experience some mild discomfort during your recovery. Using the prescribed pain medication, compression garment, and any other aftercare recommended by Dr. Augenstein will help to minimize any discomfort you may experience.
Unfortunately, neck lifts are not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding due to potential complications.
